Application Procedure
APPLICATION PROCEDURE – The first step to secure housing requires the completion of an application for any program or development offered by our agency. Applications can be picked up at the Administrative Office or mailed to you by calling 814-765-2485. Completed applications can be delivered to the Administrative Office in person or mailed to 203 S. 3rd St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
Birth Certificates and Social Security numbers, along with all sources of income/assets for each household member (such as a Social Security award letter, three most current pay stubs for wages, three current bank statements, etc.) are required at the time of your initial interview. Copies can be made of these documents at our office.
Upon receipt of the application, criminal history is verified before being placed on the waiting list. When your application comes to the top of the waiting list, you will have your first interview. All information is verified, and income eligibility determined, at this interview. Credit, criminal and landlord verifications are also completed to determine eligibility for the program or development.
INCOME LIMITS – Income limits are set by the federal government, based on location, and used to determine eligibility for both Public Housing and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher programs. The lower the income, the greater the subsidy paid on behalf of the resident.
SECTION 8 HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM – rental assistance in the private rental market, participants portion of rent is determined by using income, deductions, payment standards, rent, and utilities paid by the participant.
